When using SmartDeals, you’ll come across two main types of offers: Deals and Coupons.
Deals refer to sales and discounts that vendors apply directly to the products (usually for a limited period of time). SmartDeals finds them for you and shows you a link to the sale. Simply click the link and you’ll be directed to the vendor’s page where you can immediately take advantage of the deal.
For example, if you’ve got your eye on the latest smartphone, simply search for that particular phone. SmartDeals will find the websites currently offering your phone at a discounted price. Click the deal you want and you’ll be taken directly to the sale website, where you can buy that discounted smartphone immediately.
It’s just like a sale at your favorite brick-and-mortar shop: the store runs a sale and you get to buy that item at a special discounted price.
Coupons (also called e-coupons, online coupons or vouchers), on the other hand, work like the paper print-out coupons you find in newspapers and magazines: you get to take a certain amount of money off the regular price of an item.
Let’s use the same smartphone example. You’ve searched for your dream smartphone and no one’s currently offering any deals. All hope for a discounted smartphone is not lost, however: you can still search the SmartDeals coupons section to find an e-coupon.
eCoupons work just like the cut out coupons: when you’re ready to check out with your purchase, you enter your unique e-coupon ID to receive a specific discount on a regularly priced item (just like you’d hand your coupon to the cashier to receive a discount at a store).
Just like you can’t use coupons on sale items, you can’t combine e-coupons with online deals (sorry). Choose a deal or choose a coupon, but you can’t use a coupon on a deal – or vice versa. It’s a one-or-the-other system.

Same as with the off-line deals and cut out coupons – you cannot combine the two of those. That is – you either use a deal or a coupon, but you cannot use a coupon when following a deal link nor the other way around.
